Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Overview
Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 9th, 1914, by three college students, the honorable A. Langston Taylor, the honorable Lenard F. Morse, and the honorable Charles I. Brown. They were founded on the principles of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service. Their motto is "Culture for Service and Service to Humanity". Charles R. Taylor and A. Langston Taylor helped to establish the first "sister" sorority to a black fraternity called Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. Sigma and Zeta are the only constitutionally bound brother-sister organization among Divine 9.
Beta Beta Zeta Chapter at Lenoir-Rhyne University
On July 6, 2002 five young men were initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. through the Iota Delta Delta Sigma Chapter located in Concord, NC. and mentored/advised by Bro. Charles Amerson. On September 17, 2002, these five young men were given a charter to become a chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Beta Beta Zeta was the first historically black greek organization to get a charter on the campus of Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory,NC.
